I saw something last week that made me tear up. A video of an elderly gentleman in a care home, opening what looked like an ordinary gift. Inside was a cushion – but not just any cushion. Printed on it was a photograph of him and his late wife with their beautiful grandchildren
The moment he saw it, this dignified man crumbled. Happy tears, the kind that come from somewhere so deep they carry your whole heart with them. He clutched that cushion like it contained every precious memory of their life together. And honestly? It probably did.
It got me thinking about something we don't talk about enough: that one photograph. You know the one I mean – the image that would have you running back into a burning house, common sense be damned. The photo that holds your entire world in a single frame.
Here's what I've noticed after years in this business: most people's most treasured photograph is living a rather sad existence. It's either buried somewhere in a shoebox (what I call "photo purgatory"), trapped in a phone that might die tomorrow, or worse – it's the original print that's been handled so lovingly it's starting to fade around the edges and the people in it can hardly be made out any more.
And whilst the photo is technically safe, it's not exactly honouring its importance, is it?
But here's the beautiful truth: that gentleman with his cushion? He wasn't just given a gift – they transformed a memory into a daily companion. Instead of having to hunt through albums or squint at a phone screen, his beloved wife was right there, ready for a cuddle whenever he needed her.
Think about your most cherished image for a moment. Maybe it's:
Now imagine if that photo could be with you every single day, not hidden away but beautifully displayed where it belongs. Instead of occasionally stumbling across it and getting that bittersweet pang, you get to smile at it over your morning coffee. Instead of it being a memory you have to actively seek out, it becomes part of your daily joy.
We've been quietly working on what we're calling our "Daily Dose of Joy" collection (yes, that's the official name – we're not subtle people). It's for those photos that are too important to stay hidden, it includes:
Small Prints – Perfect for your bedside table, desk, or anywhere you want a quiet reminder of what matters most
Photo Cushions – Like that beautiful gentleman's gift, perfect for those moments when you need comfort close at hand
Personalised Mugs – Start every morning with the memory that makes you smile
Photo Keyrings – Carry your most precious people with you wherever you go (literally in your pocket)
Notebooks – Turn your daily notes into something special with your favourite memory on the cover
Water Bottles – Stay hydrated while staying close to the memories that keep you going
Bring us your most treasured photo before October and mention our Daily Dose of Joy collection, choose three of the personalised gifts above to print your image on and we'll throw in a free 8x6 print.
